Stop & Smell the Roses

I had the coolest experience today.

I decided to go on a run on this trail outside of my Dad’s house (for those of you who know me, you know I hate running so this is big) I turned on my “WERK” spotify playlist and took off in my bright blue shoes. About 5 minutes into the run, I realized that I had a huge smile on my face. I stopped, took a really deep breath, and literally felt a weight being lifted off of my shoulders. I instantly felt lighter, happier, and relaxed. As I started walking, I began to take in the beauty that was surrounding me. I literally stopped to smell flowers. I started skipping, twirling, and laughing (I’m sure if someone was watching me they probably thought I was crazzzzzy) but I totally didn’t care. For the first time since I can remember, I didn’t have a care in the world. I was 100% living in the moment, and absolutely loving it.

I don’t know what came over me, but all I could think about when I got back to my Dad’s was how I wish everyone could experience that feeling. I get so caught up in my day to day life that I sometimes forget to take a big, fat deep breath and I’m pretty positive that I’m not the only one. Trust me I love being busy, I love being around people, and I thrive off feeling accomplished. BUT, sometimes it’s important to take a step back. So take my advice and chill out for a second, go on a run, read a book, spend some alone time, whatever works for you to totally unwind.

Oh and by the way, I missed you Colorado. I’m so happy to be back.

XO

  1. Great blog! I enjoyed reading it. I agree that we need to step back and do something that comes out mind that brings a sense of peace.
